Boy hurt in 'hit-and-run' on bicycle in Gravesend

A young teenager was injured in a suspected hit-and-run in Gravesend yesterday afternoon.

The youth, believed to be 13 or 14, was riding his bike along Wrotham Road when he was struck by the vehicle at 4pm.

It is understood he was heading to Woodlands Park with a friend.

Police and ambulances were called to the scene and the boy was treated by the roadside.

A police spokesman said: "We have located the person we believe to be the driver and spoken to him."

The boy's injuries are not believed to be serious though he is now said to be walking on crutches and suffered cuts and bruises.

A Kent Police spokesman said it was believed the car had made off after the accident, which happened near The Woodlands pub.
