Flat fire in Gravesend

A FLAT was ablaze for over an hour last night, in what police are calling suspicious circumstances.

Two fire engines from Thameside, police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service were called to Augustine Road in Gravesend at 10.20pm.

It took an hour for the crews to tackle the blaze and a ventilation fan had to be used to clear all the smoke from the property.

Everybody in the flats were accounted for and there are no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is thought to be suspicious and is being investigated by Kent Police and KFRS Fire Investigation and Research Team.
