A man toppled out of his canoe yesterday.

Gravesend’s RNLI were called out to rescue the man, who fell into the rough waters at 3.58pm.

By the time they got there, the man had been pulled to safety by two friends he was out canoeing with.

He received a medical check from the RNLI and the trio agreed to return to shore and save their paddling for a day when the water was less choppy.

As the RNLI crew headed back to base, they came across a yacht stuck in the mud just off Gravesend’s promenade.

They waited on stand by incase their assistance was needed, but a man managed to push the yacht out of the mud with paddles and continue on his way to the Gravesend Sailing Club.
