The UK’s next top pin-up model could be from Swanscombe.

Abigail Gibson, 33, of Gunn Road, is in the running to be crowned Miss Pinup UK 2015 after entering under the show name Cherry Bomb.

The nickname was plucked for her by husband Bramwell, with fellow competitors opting to choose show names as part of the competition.

The contest was set up in 2013 by burlesque entertainer Rio Wild and is open to women over 18 regardless of shape, height or build.

Models are required to showcase a special talent, with singing and dancing a popular choice, but Abigail’s gift lies away from the stage.

She said: “My special talent is quite creative. I like to make tea-cup candles and candy-skull items.

“I have always been into vintage things and now I’ve had two children I thought this
is my last chance to take part in something that I’ve wanted to do.”

Abigail set up her Facebook page Vintage Victoria a year ago after she created craft items for sale over Christmas.

She said: “I started it with a view to maybe being able to sell a few bits for days out and holidays for my girls.

“It’s another avenue that I’m exploring during my time looking after my daughters.

“I have a secret hope to open a vintage teashop where I can sell crafts and hold events.”

Online voting for the first heat closes on Friday, August 1.

The final takes place on Friday, September 25, at the London Tattoo Convention.

Winners will share prizes such as dresses as well as the chance to feature on the Pinup UK tour in 2016.
