Arrest made and man cut out of van after five-vehicle collision in Windmill Street, Gravesend, in early hours of morning

A man was cut out of his car and arrested this morning after allegedly smashing a van into five parked cars.

The driver was trapped in a Vauxhall Combo van after becoming injured during the incident in Windmill Street, Gravesend, at 5.20am.

After cutting him out by removing the roof of the van with a saw and hydraulic cutting equipment, firefighters put the man on to a stretcher.

All of the vehicles involved in the crash were damaged but it is not known if any other people were injured.

As well as arresting someone, police also closed the road between the junctions of Clarence Avenue and Portland Avenue.

Ambulance services were also at the scene.
