Hungry and thirsty shoppers at Debenhams will now be able to grab a bite to eat or something to drink at the store’s new cafe.

It opened for business on Monday with a little help from Pudsey the Bear of Children in Need.

A pot of tea costs £1.70, while a black coffee will set you back £2.05.

There is also free Wifi.

Food on the menu includes paninis, jacket potatoes and sandwiches.

The reaction from customers was positive.

Sue Asquith, who was enjoying a coffee, said: “The staff are friendly and the coffee is nice. We’re not short of coffee shops in town but I’d definitely come back.”

Rick Dix, who was about to tuck into his lunch, said: “It looks good. They definitely needed one in here.”
