Police identify body found in St Andrew's Gardens, between Royal Pier Road and Crooked Lane, Gravesend

Police now know the identity of a man found dead in public gardens in Gravesend.

The discovery of the body in St Andrew's Gardens, between Royal Pier Road and Crooked Lane, on Thursday afternoon sparked a huge emergency services response.

Seven police cars, an ambulance and two paramedic cars rushed to the scene and the area was cordoned off.

Police revealed later that afternoon that a man's body had been found.

Officers have now established the identity of the man and his next of kin have been informed.

A spokesman confirmed he was in his 40s and from the Gravesend area.

The spokesman added: "His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will now be prepared for the coroner."
