Hit and run in Vale Road, Northfleet, leaves 12-year-old boy in hospital and police are searching for the driver

Police are searching for a driver who left the scene of a hit and run in which a 12-year-old boy was injured.

Officers, paramedics and the air ambulance were called to Vale Road, Northfleet, just after 6pm on Thursday to reports of a collision at the junction with Thames Way.

A young male pedestrian, who is believed to be aged 12, was injured in a collision with a blue Renault Megane.

He suffered head and arm injuries and was taken to King's College London.

A police spokesman said: "The car left the scene and was later found abandoned elsewhere in Northfleet. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the offender."
