A by-election will be held after councillor Rosemary Leadley stood down.
There is now a vacancy for a borough councillor for the Coldharbour Ward in Gravesham following the resignation of Cllr Leadley
She has been an elected member for the Labour party since 1987, but stepped down on March 26 due to family and work commitments.
Councillor Leadley was leader for the Labour Party between 1996 and 2003
Gravesham council leader Cllr Burden said “On behalf of the council I would like to thank Rosemary for all of the work that she has done for the council and for her commitment and enthusiasm for the borough “
A by-election will be held within 35 days.
This means that the by-election will coincide with the European Parliamentary elections to be held on May 22.
