Car stranded as Milton Street, Swanscombe, floods

It may look like a scene from the Noah's Ark Bible story, but this is actually a town centre road following heavy rain at the weekend.

Milton Street in Swanscombe is notorious for flooding during downpours but yesterday was even wetter than usual.

The water was more than ankle deep in some parts of the road, leaving car tyres covered and gardens decidedly soggy.

But that didn't stop cars, bikes and even a coach, continuing to drive through the flood water.

One vehicle owner wasn't so lucky though and ended up stuck when, presumably, their engine was flooded.

Luckily there were people on hand to help out and push the car out of the water.

Milton Street often floods in bad weather and residents have complained of poor drainage for many years.
