Firefighters called to changing rooms fire at playing fields in Cedar Avenue, King's Farm, Gravesend.

Community sports facilities were damaged after a fire was started last night.

Firefighters from Thames-side station were called to the changing rooms at the playing fields in Cedar Avenue, Gravesend, after vandals had started a fire against the building.

The crew spent an hour and a half putting out the blaze which caused damage to the roof.

No one was hurt in the incident and firefighters are not sure who started the fire but have said it was a “suspected deliberate ignition.”

A man who lives in the King’s Farm estate, where the fields are situated, said he had earlier seen “kids” carrying rubbish towards the scene.
