A child has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car this morning.

The accident happened in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, at the junction with Hall Road and Earl Road.

Emergency services were called just after 8.30am. The 11-year-old boy has been taken to Darent Valley Hospital with a possible shoulder injury and abdominal pain.

Police closed roads and diverted traffic while the boy was treated at the scene.
