A young girl has suffered head injuries in a crash on the A2 this afternoon.

The smash involved two cars on the coastbound stretch at Cobham, near the Inn on the Lake hotel, just before 2.47pm.

An elderly man was taken to hospital for checks.

Tailbacks were said to be building up this afternoon as police oversaw the recovery of vehicles.

But the road reopened just after 4pm. The cars involved in the crash were said to be a Ford Mondeo and a Toyota Avensis.
