Richie's Diner, Dartford, enters the Dartford and Gravesham Business Awards

Some restaurant owners get nervous about customers leaving reviews on TripAdvisor, but Richie’s Diner owner Syed Choudhury positively encourages it.

Based in Green Street Green Road, Dartford, the diner is stylish and American-themed with an extensive menu including a la carte with a variety of steaks and a wealth of burgers that have drawn positive comments on the review site.

Opened last year, Mr Choudhury started the business after his parents, who own an Indian restaurant and takeaway, offered him a directorship, which he turned down.

He said he wanted to experience everything they had been through setting up a new business, and so went on and opened his very own American diner.

Constantly seeking improvement, Mr Choudhury said: “I believe I have added a modern twist to the typical American diner theme.

“I believe American diners in the UK may look and sound like the real thing, but the food is in smaller portions.

“So my emphasis from day one was to focus on food.

“I knew I had a difficult task bringing customers into the restaurant due to my location, which is why I worked so hard to get the food right so that they come back – and they do.

“I constantly look for ways to improve the food in my business, which I believe sets me aside from other diners.”

The diner has a takeaway service and also offers a free taxi service to bring you to your meal.

Richie’s Diner is one of the entrants in the Dartford and Gravesham Business Awards.

Now in their 10th year, the awards are supported by the Messenger and each entrant gets a free profile in our newspapers and online.

If you would like to enter, go to www.dgbawards.co.uk before Friday, August 7.
