37-year-old man from Chatham arrested after crash with lorry on A2 near Northfleet, Gravesend

A man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and failing to provide a breath specimen after crashing with a lorry.

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews were called out to a report of a crash involving a Jaguar X-type car and a HGV on the coastbound A2 near Northfleet at around 2am on Saturday, August 22.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Chatham, has been released on bail pending further inquiries until September 8.

Fire crews helped deal with a fuel spill coming from the lorry and were at the scene for an hour and a half.

No serious injuries reported.

Fire crews reported that the incident involved a second car. However, police have not confirmed this.
