Pupils at Langafel Primary School, Longfield, and Rosherville Primary School, Northfleet, enjoy KM's new app

A resurrected velociraptor has crashed the area’s schools this week causing classroom chaos, courtesy of the Messenger.

Pupils were caught gasping in disbelief as the monster pinged back into existence thanks to a new “augmented reality” app called KMi3D.

KM Group newspapers are featuring a different dinosaur in each weekly edition of our What’s On supplement, including a tyrannosaurus rex and a pterodactyl, which users can control using their mobile phone or tablet.

We will be following our dinosaur collection with 3D planets, cars, military vehicles and much more.

Messenger reporter Ben Kennedy visited Langafel Primary School and Rosherville Primary School to demonstrate how the technology transformed the image on the newspaper page into a walking, roaring beast.

Thomas King, seven, a pupil at Langafel in Longfield, said: “I wouldn’t think that a phone would be able to read a newspaper and make a monster come out of it. It’s awesome.”

The group from Rosherville school have been learning about dinosaurs and decorated their classrooms in a Jurassic theme. However, they never expected to see a specimen plod around their school.

Lily-Jade Atkins-Scott, seven, a pupil at the Northfleet school, said: “I like it very much because wherever you tap on the screen the dinosaur follows. I have never seen that before.”
