Gravesend man arrested after 4x4 on three wheels makes off from scene of crash in West Street

A motorist is in custody on suspicion of drink-driving after a Range Rover crashed into another vehicle and reportedly fled the scene.

The 37-year-old was arrested after a black 4x4 vehicle hit another car carrying a family-of-four in West Street, Gravesend, shortly before 7pm last night.

It is understood the impact of the collision was so severe, one of the wheels of the Range Rover broke off.

Firefighters were also called out to the scene as the broken wheel on the Range Rover caught alight as it had got so hot and crews had to put out the flames.

It is understood score marks can be seen on the carriageway of Thames Way where the three-wheeled vehicle travelled along it.

No one in the other car which was hit in West Street suffered serious injuries during the smash.
