The Three Daws Real Ale Festival set to kick off in Gravesend

Glasses will be raised this afternoon for the first pints of a beer festival at a popular Gravesend pub.

The Three Daws Real Ale Festival kicks off at 5pm in association with the Something for the Weekend arts festival.

Opening on Saturday and Sunday from 11am until late, the pub will offer a wide range of ales, food from local suppliers with live music and performances throughout the weekend.

The festival is organised by The Event Wheel and is the first to take place at the pub in Royal Pier Road.

Landlord Lester Banks said: "We thought about it before but now seemed the right time. We hope it will be a success."

Organisers Dan Snelgrove and Hannah Jerrom spent five days decking out the pub's lounge in anticipation of the festival.

Mr Snelgrove said: "We are very excited. This is our first festival so we really wanted to go for it. There has been a lot of hard work.

The festival is free to enter.
