Delays on London-bound A2 from J1 of M2 at Strood after accident

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of taking a car without consent after an accident on the A2 this morning.

Police said the suspect, a 19-year-old from Canterbury, was taken to hospital and then arrested following the crash on the London-bound carriageway at around 5.20am.

There was heavy congestion in the area from junction 1 of the M2 at Strood to the A227 for Gravesend and the Tollgate services, but delays had cleared by 8.30am.
