Driver from Gravesend arrested after woman dies in car crash

A driver has been released on bail after a woman died when the car she was in crashed into a telegraph pole and flipped on to its roof.

The 20-year-old woman was the passenger in a blue Renault Clio and died at the scene in Henhurst Road, Gravesend.

The 26-year-old driver, who suffered minor injuries, was arrested and taken into police custody.

But police today revealed he has been bailed pending further inquiries until Monday, June 19.

Police were called to Henhurst Road at about 10.20pm on Wednesday.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is asking any witnesses who saw the collision or the vehicle before the collision, and who have not yet spoken to officers, to contact the appeal line on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk quoting RY/SM/050/17.
