Gravesend youngster Stacey Mowle, who died from rare childhood cancer, remembered in three days of special celebrations

Celebrations are being held this weekend in memory of Gravesend youngster Stacey Mowle to mark what would have been her 10th birthday on Monday.

The nine-year-old, who lived in Trafalgar Road, sadly died in March after a five-year battle against the childhood cancer, relapsed neuroblastoma.

But her family want people to pay tribute to their "little Princess" by sharing their own special memories over the next three days.

Dad Warren, mum Samantha and Stacey's brother Jake will be visiting their daughter's memorial garden in Windmill Gardens, Gravesend, and have invited well-wishers to lay a single pink rose in the tranquil setting too.

They would also like supporters of the Stacey Mowle Appeal to wear appeal T-shirts and wristbands or the colour pink in honour of her favourite colour, as well as sharing their Stacey photos or selfies on social media.

Birthday messages can also be tweeted with the hashtag #happybirthdayStacey as part of the Memory4Stace event.

Warren, 42, said: "Let's celebrate Stacey's life. It would be fantastic for the family to see how her friends, in other words our supporters, will remember her."

Stacey's courage and constant bright smile captured the hearts of thousands of people worldwide, including celebrities such as One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, comedian Joe Pasquale, actress Linda Robson and football boss Harry Redknapp, who have all become appeal patrons.

More than £200,000 was raised towards the cost of specialist treatment, which is neither provided nor funded by the NHS.

Sadly, the youngster died before she could be treated in the US but it was decided the appeal would continue in order to help other children fighting the disease, and to create a lasting legacy to Stacey herself.

It is expected to gain official charity status within days, and will incorporate "treats and wishes" to create special memories for other families affected by neuroblastoma.
