A farmer used a forklift truck to help firefighters tackle a blaze involving about 50 tonnes of hay yesterday.
Two fire crews were called to land at the junction with Station Road and Foxhounds Lane, Southfleet, at 4pm.
The farmer assisted crews by moving bales which had not yet caught light to a safe distance.
It was six hours before firefighters were able to leave the scene.
