Neighbour Julia Roberts said she just thought someone had lit a bonfire, before she heard a loud bang.

She said: "I thought it was just a bonfire at first but then it sounded as if fireworks were exploding. I looked from upstairs and could see by this time the garage was alight and the glass windows were shattering.

"It was obvious the adjacent tree would go up as well. Thankfully it was extinguished within minutes of the fire brigade arriving and I don't think anyone was hurt."

Firefighters left the scene at around 4.30pm.
