The first snow of the year has arrived and though there's not much on the ground, more is predicted for overnight.

Flakes are expected to fall until about lunchtime before making way for rain. Temperatures will struggle to get above two degrees.

From about midnight tonight, more snow is expected.

Greg Dewhurst from the Met Office said: "It certainly looks like most places will see rain as we go into this afternoon and into the evening.

"There's a low risk that the rain will turn to sleet and possibly into snow as we head into Tuesday morning."

Gritters have been out treating the main roads in the county, but drivers are being told to take extra care on the roads.
