Police in Bentley Street, Gravesend

A woman has reported being sexually assaulted by a man in an alleyway in Gravesend as she walked her dog.

Forensic officers were seen in Bentley Street, which is just off Milton Road, earlier and part of the street was cordoned off.

The woman told officers she was attacked in the alleyway, off Bentley Street, at about 12.45am today.

The man is reported to have been part of a group of men that spoke with the victim, who was walking her dog, outside a shop near the junction with Milton Road, at approximately 12.15am.

The conversation lasted around 20 minutes.

The suspect is then reported to have walked her to a nearby alleyway and touched her inappropriately.

At present no arrests have been made but inquiries are ongoing.

The road is now fully open and a forensic van that was spotted there earlier has left.
