Drink-drive arrest after car hits lamppost on A2 at Ebbsfleet

A Gravesend man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a crash on the A2.

The 42-year-old was held after the vehicle hit a lamppost at the Ebbsfleet junction on Monday night.

He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, in Gillingham, for his injuries.

A passenger was also taken to King’s College Hospital, in London, with head injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

A Kent Police spokesman said he is thought to be in a stable condition.

It is understood three people were travelling in a car that came off the coastbound carriageway at about 10.40pm.

Medics from South East Coast Ambulance Service along with Kent Police officers were called to the scene.

The exit slip road was closed for more than four hours until about 2.50am..
