Crews tackle large grass fire near Met Police Specialist Training Centre in Gravesend

More than 300 square metres of grass and undergrowth was destroyed in a blaze in Gravesend yesterday evening.

Firefighters were called out to Mark Lane, near the Metropolitan Police Specialist Training Centre, at about 5.45pm after a fire broke out in undergrowth.

Crews from Thames-Side and Strood fire stations spent almost two hours putting out the flames and didn’t leave the site until about 7.30pm.
