Nine escape 'suspicious' house blaze

THREE people had to be rescued from a second-floor flat in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Parrock Street, Gravesend, after a fire broke out in the basement.

A family of six, who live on the ground floor, also had to be helped from the blaze by emergency services.

Three fire engines attended, two from Thames-side and one from Strood, as well as ambulance crews and police. No-one was hurt.

The fire is being treated as suspicious by North Kent Police. Fire crews were at the scene for about two hours.
