Nominate your hospital heroes

THEY work long hours, often under intense pressure, and sometimes with little thanks, but our hospital staff are dedicated to trying to do the best for their patients.

That is why the Messenger is launching The Public's Award for the unsung heroes of Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust.

From the surgeon that performed life-saving surgery, the nurse whose calm helps smooth a traumatic time, or the department support staff who ensure you understand everything about your treatment, we want you to nominate the staff at Darent Valley Hospital you feel go that extra mile and deserve a reward.

The Messenger's Public's Award forms part of the trust's annual staff awards, in which trust staff are able to nominate colleagues for recognition.

But our award, which will be given to one individual, a ward or department, is looking for nominations from readers, patients, or patients' friends and family.

Whether it's a shining individual, a ward that is particularly friendly, or a department that pulls together to provide top-class healthcare, they can all be put forward.

They may have cared for you, a loved one or a friend, or perhaps you have worked alongside them, possibly in a volunteering capacity and feel they need a pat on the back for all their hard work and effort.

If you know someone who deserves recognition email us at gravesendmessenger@thekmgroup.co.uk with your name, address and contact number, the name of the person or department you wish to nominate and why.

The closing date for entries is Friday, September 5 so get voting!
