Pedestrian killed by car crash in Milton Road, Gravesend, named as Stela-Maria Hurmuzache-Anpohe, at inquest in Gravesend Old Town Hall, High Street

A woman who died after being hit by car on a busy street has been named.

Stela-Maria Hurmuzache-Anpohe, 34, from Gravesend, was a pedestrian hit by a silver Mercedes in Milton Road in the town.

The inquest into Ms Hurmuzache-Anpohe’s death was opened by North West Kent Coroner Roger Hatch at Gravesend Old Town Hall in High Street.

A post-mortem revealed that Ms Hurmuzache-Anpohe died from “severe head injuries”. A toxicology report has also been carried out.

Milton Road has two crossings, a zebra crossing and a crossing with traffic lights, and is used by buses and traffic entering the town centre.

Mourners have since left floral tributes including a candle, a photo and a wreath with a ribbon that has ‘from friends’ on it.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident and witnesses to the crash are being urged to come forward.

Officers from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating.

A provisional date for Ms Hurmuzache-Anpohe’s inquest is March 23 next year.
