Person hit by car in High Street, Northfleet

A teenager has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Northfleet.

Police closed part of the High Street near the Hot Rod Diner to allow emergency services to access the scene.

A 19-year-old woman was taken to King's College Hospital in London with a head injury.

The incident happened at around 8.30am, and caused traffic to build up.

The road has since reopened and congestion has cleared.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8:37am on Tuesday 15 August 2017 to reports of a collision between a woman and a car on Council Avenue, Northfleet.

"Officers attended and assisted with a road closure that has now been lifted. South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called and have taken the women to a London hospital."
