Police warn of M25 tailbacks

Drivers have been warned to expect serious delays on the M25 this afternoon after a vehicle caught fire on the Dartford crossing.

Kent Police are advising motorists to use alternative routes if possible after the bridge was shut to allow the Highways Agency to deal with the incident.

The tunnel is currently being used for both north and southbound traffic.

Traffic is already backing up to junction 4 of the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 in Kent.

The bridge is not expected to re-open for at least one hour.
