Author Roberto Di Falco wants every primary school in Kent to hold a ‘tag day’ to coincide with World Book Day on March 6.

The 39-year-old father-of-three has already written a book for Stacey, called The Girl with the Pink Bandana, in honour of the coloured headgear she often wears.

One pound from every sale goes to the appeal fund set up to pay for the specialist treatment she needs.

He is also working on a book of poems for the eight-year-old, who lives in Trafalgar Road, Gravesend.

Stacey suffers from neuroblastoma and needs treatment in the US at a cost of £500,000.

Roberto hopes the ‘tag day’ - when anyone who makes a charity contribution is given a tag, such as the pink ribbon associated with Breakthrough Breast Cancer - will raise awareness of Stacey’s plight and much-needed money for her appeal.

He would like any money donated by teachers, pupils and staff to be split 50/50 between the school and The Stacey Mowle Appeal.

“It is a rather ambitious project which I hope will stir a lot of interest,” he said. “I plan to email as many schools in Kent as I can with the proposal, but I also want parents to ask their schools too.”

Roberto, who lives in Rochester, said children could pay £1 to wear a bandana for the day, and is happy to help those that do take part with poster designs and any other promotional tools.

“Jamie Oliver did it for school dinners so why don’t I do it for Stacey and help boost schools’ funds as well?” he added.
