Man, 57, killed after being hit by train close to Farningham Road Station

Police believe a man that was killed after being hit by a train close to Farningham Road station, is from Dartford.

A call came into police at 3.35pm yesterday (Thursday) after reports of a man struck by a train.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "Officers from BTP alongside colleagues from Kent Police and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service attended but a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man's family have been informed and it is believed he was a 57-year-old man from the Dartford area.

"The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious."

Southeastern warned rail users their journeys could be delayed by up to an hour between Swanley and Chatham due to the incident.

On the Southeastern website it said: "There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 6pm."

A spokesman from Southeastern said the incident involved the 13:07 service from Dover Priory to Victoria on the Sole Street line.

Due to the fatal accident there were alternative routes from Charing Cross and Cannon Street to Rochester and St Pancras International to Rochester and Faversham.
