Crash in Perry Street, Northfleet near Pelham Arms pub leaves man in mid-40s with suspected spinal injuries, according to Kent Fire and Rescue Service

A man was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after a crash involving two cars in Northfleet yesterday evening.

Firefighters were called to the crash involving two cars in Perry Street at 6.45pm last night on the roundabout near the Pelham Arms pub.

A silver Mercedes A-class had its roof ripped off using hydraulic rescue equipment to free the driver, described as a man in his mid-40s.

He was removed using a spinal longboard and handed into the care of paramedics.

No other passengers were found in the vehicle.

Two ambulances and a medical car were present at the scene before the man was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital as a priority patient.

Fire crews remained at the scene until around 7.45pm to assist paramedics.
