Singer Tom Parker, from The Wanted, and actress girlfriend Kelsey Hardwick, support north Kent hospice charity ellenor

Youngsters at hospice charity ellenor were delighted when The Wanted’s Tom Parker came to see them and pledge his support for its latest appeal.

The singing sensation is calling on fans to make a donation during national Children’s Hospice Week from May 11 to 17 so ellenor can continue providing care to families facing terminal illness.

Tom, together with his actress girlfriend Kelsey Hardwick, met young patients, their siblings, parents, volunteers and staff when they visited the north Kent-based charity.

Tom said: “I was humbled to meet children supported by ellenor.

“I visited a respite group for young patients and their siblings, which gives parents and carers a much-needed rest.

“I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it must be to have a sick child, but with the support of ellenor families can have precious moments together.”

The charity is the only one in the county to provide hospice care for seriously ill people of all ages, whether a newborn baby, child, teenager, adult or elderly person in the final moments of their life.

An important part of its work is caring for more than 150 children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and its children’s hospice team supports many in their own homes.

As part of Children’s Hospice Week, ellenor also wants businesses, schools and groups to join in the fun of Pyjama Friday on May 15 to help raise vital cash.

“It was a very exciting day when they came to visit and to see them raise so many smiles.”
