Two men were flown to a London hospital with burn injuries after falling on to train tracks in Gravesend station.

A third man suffered a broken arm in the fall.

There were unconfirmed reports that the men has been turned away from the Whispers nightclub in Parrock Street earlier.

The incident happened at 12.15am.

The ambulance service said the men fell 30ft down the embankment and onto the tracks.

Three ambulances, the air ambulance and two ambulance cars attended the scene along with police and Kent Fire and Rescue.

Two of the men were taken to Kings College Hospital in London and the other to Darent Valley Hospital.

A man in his 20s was treated for burns on his hands and minor bruises and a cut on his head.

He was placed in a neck brace and put on a stretcher and taken to Kings College.

Another man had a suspected broken arm.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called following a report that three men had fallen from the embankment onto the line below.

"It is believed that two men fell after trying to rescue their friend who had accidentally slipped from a nearby footbridge onto the embankment.

"Two fire engines attended the scene and fire crews removed the men from the tracks.

"Medics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service treated the men for injuries after coming into contact with the live third rail.

"Two of the men, aged in their twenties and from the local area, were taken to Kings College Hospital where one is being treated for severe burn injuries.

"The second man is being treated for facial injuries and minor burns.

"The third man, age 30 and from Gravesend, was taken to Darent Valley Hospital where he is being treated for a fractured arm."

He has since been released from hospital.

The two men in their twenties remain in hospital but are in a stable condition.

BTP officers are continuing to investigate to establish the full circumstances, although the incident is being treated as non-suspicious.

The line was reopened at 1.27am.
