Gravesend: Travellers set up camp in Nell's Cafe lorry park next to A2

Travellers have set up camp at a lorry park near the A2.

Angry residents have called for a long-term solution to the ongoing problem.

The site, opposite Nell's Cafe in Valley Drive, Gravesend, has had a troubled past.

It was left covered with litter after caravans parked up in November last year.

Highways England had to close the area twice in 2016 to carry out a deep clean, after it was littered with tyres, food waste, plastic bags and cardboard boxes.

A group of caravans was moved on from a nearby leisure centre car park yesterday.

The traveller encampment was set up at Cascades in Riverview, Gravesend, over the weekend.

A spokesperson confirmed the council was due to take the issue to court yesterday, and travellers were moved on from the site at around 5pm.

It is not clear whether the groups are the same.
