A mother's precious memories of her son who died last year have been stolen by cruel burglars.

Carrie Guest, 32, returned to her home in Whitehill Road, Gravesend, after a family day out to find her bedroom had been ransacked.

Not only was her jewellery taken - including the engagement ring given by 41-year-old husband Mark - but a camera containing the last images of her son Jack, who died in October aged just 10 years old.

Mrs Guest, who has three other boys, all with special needs, said: "They haven't got a clue what they've taken.

"It's my memories, pictures that I can never get back. They're still in my head, but these images I can never replace.

"Jack died in October. He had a traumatic birth with a severe bleed to the brain.

"He was severely disabled and he never walked or talked and he was tube fed. He had autism, cerebral palsy and severe scoliosis of the spine. He was very, very poorly.

"The photos on the card were his last and they're important for me to remember. There was also photos of my mum on there who died six years ago. Out of everything that's been taken, that's the worst thing.”

Also taken was her seven-year-old son Benjamin's blue iPod nano, a birthday present given to him just two weeks earlier.

The family's puppy remained safe in the kitchen and the burglars even made sure the door was closed so he could not escape.

The digital camera, with a memory card containing the precious pictures, was a silver Vivitar.

Mrs Guest added: "Benjamin was devastated. Trying to explain to your son who has autism that naughty men have taken your iPod is very hard.

"All my memories have been taken away from me. My children now feel frightened in their own home. If anybody can help trace my property I'd be extremely grateful."

Kent Police confirmed officers were called at 5.15pm on Friday, August 9 to reports of a burglary in Gravesend.

A spokesman said: "It was reported an iPad Nano, a camera and some items of jewellery were missing from a property in Whitehill Road."
