Ebbsfleet striker Bradley Bubb relieved to make amends for earlier miss with derby winner against Dartford

Match-winner Bradley Bubb knew he couldn’t afford to miss two sitters in one game.

Bubb was left embarrassed after he failed to score a simple chance against Dartford on New Year’s Day.

But the 28-year-old made no mistake second time around to score the winner against their rivals.

“Dartford’s fans were battering me for the first miss so I had to make sure with the second chance,” said Bubb.

“The miss, I just hit off the wrong place on my foot, it came off my Achilles.

“I had to keep my concentration, I knew I was going to get another chance so I had to make sure I took it.

“You try and get it out of your head as quickly as possible. I did that and when I got the next chance, I made sure I took it.”

Bubb, who scored four goals in as many games at the end of November, was restored to the starting line-up at the expense of Darren McQueen.

He said: “I take pride in scoring goals so to get the winner I feel good about it.

“It’s a good start to the year. They beat us in the first game so it was good to get our revenge, get the points and climb up the table."

The win moved the Fleet up to second and while they remain 10 points behind Maidenhead, Bubb believes they can catch them up.

“We’re trying to push for the title,” added Bubb. “That’s going to be our achievement and I think we’re going to do it."
