Carlos Kabir Karani hopes things will be clearer in his Ebbsfleet United takeover bid by the end of the week

Spanish investor Carlos Kabir Karani should know on Friday which direction his proposed takeover of Ebbsfleet United is heading.

The 38-year-old received the backing of Fleet supporters at a public meeting two weeks ago and owners MyFootballClub then voted to relinquish control of the club.

Mr Karani plans to use Ebbsfleet as a development base for talented young players from the Canary Islands. The club still owes around £25,000 in tax to HMRC but, despite the complications involved, Mr Karani insisted he still wants to work with the Fleet Trust and take charge at Stonebridge Road.

He said: "The only solution we can find is taking care of the club, talking to creditors, going into a CVA and making those payments over three years.

"I need to negotiate with the (Fleet Leisure) administrators. I need to present the business case to the Fleet Trust and I need to talk to the creditors.

"My investors are in big business discussions in India, China and Panama, with big companies. It’s hard to get hold of them. On Friday, we will be able to have a final situation of what’s going to happen."

Mr Karani said his squad were still poised to join him at Stonebridge Road.

He said: "My players are waiting desperately. They are not on holiday, they’re training hard."
