Ebbsfleet United getting closer to signing a centre-forward

Ebbsfleet have identified the striker they want to sign and could do the deal within the next week.

Danny Kedwell scored 20 goals in 51 appearances for Fleet this season but had to play up front on his own for much of the campaign.

Bringing in another centre-forward has been manager Daryl McMahon's priority ever since the season finished.

He said: "We're probably looking at two or three more players, a striker being one.

"We've spoken to two or three in the last few weeks and we're hopeful to get one done.

"We're in the market with other clubs for him and we're being patient to try to get the right one in and give those players the time to speak to clubs and make sure they feel we're the right club for them.

"That's just as important as the other way round.

"Strikers are the hardest ones to get. Every club wants a goalscorer and we're in the market, speaking to two or three now and we've identified maybe the main one.

"We're speaking to him and we're just waiting now. He's speaking to other clubs and hopefully in the next 5-6 days, a week, we'll find out if we get the one we want or not."
