Ebbsfleet United sign former Millwall, Brentford and Southend United defender Mark Phillips from Braintree Town

Ebbsfleet United have signed defender Mark Phillips from Braintree Town.

Phillips made 41 appearances for the Iron last season, including both legs of their National League play-off semi-final against Grimsby Town.

He becomes Fleet boss Daryl McMahon's third new signing of the summer after fellow defenders Dave Winfield and Jack Connors.

Phillips came through the youth system at Millwall and stayed there for eight years before joining Brentford and helping them to the League 2 title in 2008/09.

He later spent four years at Southend and had spells at Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon before signing for Braintree last summer.

Phillips helped the Essex side to their best-ever league finish but rejected a new deal at Cressing Road.
