Ebbsfleet United have paid £13,000 for Dover Athletic midfielder Daryl McMahon.

The 29-year-old is the first Whites player to follow new Fleet manager Steve Brown, the former Dover coach, to Stonebridge Road.

Brown has been given a £100,000 transfer kitty by Ebbsfleet's new Kuwaiti owners, who completed their takeover of the club last week.

The capture of McMahon follows the news that defenders Paul Lorraine and Joe Howe have committed to the Fleet for another season.

Brown is in talks with goalkeeper Preston Edwards and one other member of last season's Fleet squad, while more Dover players are expected to join their former assistant manager in north Kent.

McMahon played against Ebbsfleet for Farnborough in the 2010-11 Conference South play-off final, when the Fleet won 4-2 to clinch promotion.

The Dublin-born midfielder started his career at West Ham United and represented the Republic of Ireland at under-16 level.

After spending three years at Leyton Orient, McMahon won the FA Trophy with Stevenage Borough in 2009.

He followed his time at Farnborough with spells for Boreham Wood and Eastleigh before Nicky Forster brought him to Dover for a five-figure fee last September.

McMahon made 28 appearances in a Dover shirt, scoring three times. He was part of the Whites side which reached the play-off final before losing 3-2 to Salisbury City.
