Maidenhead United 0 Ebbsfleet United 4 - match report

Ebbsfleet United returned to winning ways in Vanarama Conference South with a comfortable 4-0 win against 10-man Maidenhead United at York Street.

In his second match in caretaker charge of Fleet following the departure of manager Steve Brown, Daryl McMahon saw his side record a second win to cap a week in which he became a father for the first time.

The opening goal arrived three minutes before the break when a free-kick into the area from McMahon appeared to go in off Matty Godden, though Billy Bricknell was also in close attendance.

The game was blown open three minutes into the second half when United keeper Will Britt received a straight red card after flying out of his goal to bring down Anthony Cook.

With no reserve keeper in the squad, defender Mark Nisbet took over in goal but could not prevent Bricknell’s subsequent penalty from hitting the net.

Adrian Clifton did strike the post at the other end but the third arrived just before the hour when Chris Sessegnon burst forward and fired in a cross-shot which looped over Nisbet who got hands on the ball but could not keep it out.

Fleet stopper Brandon Hall kept out a Maidenhead penalty before the fourth arrived two minutes from time when Godden scooped in from close range.

Ebbsfleet leapfrogged Gosport Borough back into third place, a point behind second-placed Bromley and seven adrift of leaders Boreham Wood, who both won.
