Ebbsfleet United striker Danny Kedwell wants to stay at the club until he retires

Danny Kedwell wants to spend the rest of his football career at Ebbsfleet.

The 33-year-old has just signed a new deal at Stonebridge Road after captaining Fleet to promotion via the National League South play-offs last season.

Kedwell is hugely valued by manager Daryl McMahon, respected by his team-mates and has built a great rapport with the Ebbsfleet supporters since joining from Gillingham in January 2015.

He said: "This club means a lot to me. I love it - all the people around the club.

"I get on really well with everyone and I really enjoy it. If you’re enjoying your football, you perform well.

"I just try to get on with everyone. If it’s not going right for me, I’ll work harder to make sure I get my place back. I’m not a pain in the bum. These clubs, they just click.

"Not every club I’ve had has gone that way but at AFC Wimbledon, Gillingham and then coming to Ebbsfleet, it’s just clicked for me. I’m really enjoying my football and hopefully I can spend the rest of my career there.

"There’s no point (going anywhere else). It’s a club looking to go places, they want to get up the ladder and I want to be a big part of that, no matter how many games I play."

Kedwell has scored 32 goals in 107 appearances during his two-and-a-half seasons with Fleet.

He said: "I feel like I’ve got a lot to give still.

"People say ‘you’re getting old now’ but the only time I’ve ever missed training (at Ebbsfleet) was through two bad injuries and that was only last year. The year before, I didn’t miss one training session and I played more or less every game.

"I’ll know when it’s time (to stop) and if I didn’t think I could (carry on), I’d have been honest with the club. I think I’ve got a lot to give and I’m still fit.

"Hopefully I can give to them what I have done in the last two-and-a-half seasons.

"The more I train, the better I am. It’s not a case of getting aches and pains. It’s not the fact I’m waking up in the morning after training and feeling it, I’m actually feeling good.

"At this time, I’m feeling really good in myself and fit and ready to go."
