Ebbsfleet United sign former Stevenage defender Jack King

Ebbsfleet have made central defender Jack King their second summer signing.

King, 32, has spent the last two seasons playing in League 2 for Stevenage.

He and Fleet boss Daryl McMahon were team-mates at Farnborough and King has since played for Woking, Preston and Scunthorpe.

McMahon said: "He’s a good player and a terrific lad.

"He won Conference South with Woking, went on to Preston, captained both Scunthorpe and Stevenage and he’s a very good character.

"He’s very experienced, very good with the ball, reads the game well and we’re delighted to have him.

"He'll compete with Winfield, Clark, Bush, Magri and Wilson for a place at the back.

"We’ve got some really good players there, some very good footballers and lots of power and pace and strength.

"I think he fits into what we’ve got nicely but he’s different in the sense that he’s played a lot of his career in midfield.

"We spoke before I went on holiday so we’ve been speaking for the last month. I’ve tried to sign him in the last two summers but at the time he was in League 1."

King, who won the League 1 play-offs with Preston in 2014-15, made 37 appearances for Stevenage last season.
