Ebbsfleet boss Daryl McMahon says defensive frailties could hinder promotion chances

Daryl McMahon blamed a lack of concentration as the key factor behind Ebbsfleet's 3-2 home defeat by Wealdstone at Stonebridge Road.

And he is warning things must improve if they harbour any thoughts of winning the Vanarama National League South title.

The Fleet boss said "It was very frustrating, and we gifted them all three goals.

"I said to the boys afterwards it doesn't matter what way we dress it up, the performance may have been very good, but conceding three goals at home is very poor, and there's no getting away from that.

"If we have got any aspirations of getting promotion this season, we can't do that against anybody.

"We have got an opportunity this year, and I really and truly believe that with the players we have got. So don't let it slide, don't let it go away from you, take the game to the opposition, be exciting and go and enjoy it."

He added: "We played on the front foot, and there was only one winner really, but we got done by a sucker punch.

"The first one was a good finish, but we have got to get out quicker to him, and giving away the corner was sloppy in the first couple of minutes.

"The other two were also really poor, especially after we got ourselves back in the game, and being well on top as well.

"Our performance with the ball was good, but without it nowhere near good enough, and we have got to improve that.

"We were beaten too easily, diving in, didn't press the ball or kill their counter attacks at source quick enough, lots of little things."
