Ebbsfleet United defender Lloyd Harrington suffers broken leg playing against Maidstone United in Kent Senior Cup

Lloyd Harrington suffered a suspected double leg break at the Gallagher Stadium on Tuesday night.

Just 10 minutes into his long-awaited Ebbsfleet debut - more than a year after he joined the club - Harrington went down in front of the main stand and a stretcher was called for.

The 21-year-old was carried off and taken to hospital with what appears to be another serious injury.

Fleet boss Daryl McMahon said: "It might be a leg break. We’re waiting to hear back on that but it doesn’t look good to be honest.

"Hopefully it’s good news but we’re not expecting good news.

"I’m absolutely devastated for him. I played with Lloydy years ago at Dover when he was coming through the youth system and I’m gutted for him.

"But we’ll look after him. He’s a good kid and we’ll try to get him back on the road again."

Harrington has played only a handful of games since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament while playing for Dover in September 2013.

The defender was due to join Billericay on loan at the end of last week but the move fell through and now he's facing up to the prospect of another long lay-off.

McMahon said: "At his age, he’s been through a lot. He’s been through the mill.

"What Lloydy has got is a big heart and a terrific attitude. He bounces back and I expect him to do it again.

"We’ll be around him to help him and the boys will be around to help him as well."
