Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon on the FA Cup win over East Thurrock United

Daryl McMahon praised Ebbsfleet for their improved performance in Tuesday night's FA Cup win.

The manager admitted Saturday's goalless draw at East Thurrock was "really boring" but Fleet gave him reasons to be cheerful in the fourth qualifying round replay.

Goals from Andy Drury, Aaron McLean and Myles Weston sent McMahon's side through to play Doncaster Rovers in the first round next month.

"It was a very good performance," McMahon said. "In the first half we moved the ball really well, dominated possession, put them on the back foot and in the second half, it was more of the same.

"We looked sharper as the game went on, created a number of chances and deservedly won.

" East Thurrock are going well in National League South, they've only lost game this season and we all know these games are tricky.

"In the first half, when you’re dominating the game as much as we were, it can be one counter-attack and you’re 1-0 down and everyone’s depressed.

"But the concentration levels were very good from the defenders - in the first half especially."

Fleet looked like they were trying to walk the ball in at times during the first half but the opening goal, which arrived on 58 minutes, couldn't have been simpler.

Jack Powell's corner from the right picked out Drury and he scored with a crisp volley.

McMahon said: "I just felt we could have done it in the first half, the corner. Every time we put two on the ball, the front post was empty.

"We said at half-time, the first one we get, clear the front post again and stick it in to Drury. It was a great finish from him.

"I thought he was excellent tonight. Having him back made a massive difference in the middle of the park.

"I thought he was exceptional, him and Rancey had a good balance in there and for the majority of the game I thought we dominated the ball and gave more of a performance that I like to see.

"I always felt that once we got the first one, we would get two and three. The first one’s the most important one because that makes them have to come out and open up more in a cup tie - and we capitalised on it."
